You guys usually have great suggestions…..Photo Licensing

So, I’m asking another question, and hopefully a reader or two might know where I can look.

By the way, thanks for all the responses on my question regarding being busy in a store front last week.  I’ll let you know how it goes this week.

Friday I was approached by a business owner regarding my Grand Canyon Monsoon photo.  The gentleman owns a manufacturing company in a specialized area, and the company produces a yearly catalog.  They’d like to use the Grand Canyon Monsoon for next year’s catalog.  I’m on board with that.

Now, my only experience with licensing is the micro-stock photography business, and you don’t get much money there through the company I deal with.  They set the pay guidelines, and I go along with it because that’s what I agreed to.  I personally don’t know what you get for a 1 year licensing agreement on a catalog cover.

In addition to the catalog cover, the company would also like to use the image on their website homepage.  All very good stuff.

What the heck should I charge, and where should I look for a limited licensing contract?  Kelby’s site did a great piece on model releases recently, I wish they had a tutorial on licensing.  Plus, the tutorial at Kelby’s site had 7 model release formats which I downloaded.  Know anywhere I could find a licensing contract for photography online???

Thanks all.  If I get an answer, we’ll make sure it gets posted here so other people trying to figure this out will have a resource.  I’ve been scouring the web this morning, and doing a bad job of it.  🙂
