I just returned from a quick trip to White Pocket this weekend. A run through of the area once more before my first workshop offered in the area. It’s been a few months, and I thought after the winter we’ve had that it would be appropriate to check out the conditions for access to the area.

This trip up Jason Anderson, of CanonBlogger, came along to see what all the fuss was about. I let him know, it’s a pretty dull spot and we’d only be shooting clods of mud……still, he was interested! 😉
What’s presented in this quick post is pretty simple. No HDRs. No edits beyond a crop of the image of me because the tripod shadow showed up in the image, and a slight push of orange and yellow in the photo directly below. Beyond that, no tweaking. Most images were 0EV shots, a few were -2EV. No fancy filters, Photoshop, Photomatix, Topaz, etc. There are so many ways to have fun with images, and one way is just taking what you walked away with at the end of the trip. Enjoy!
Finally, a shot of this formation I've been trying to get. Adjusted the yellow and orange slightly in lightroom, that's it.

I’m happy to report, White Pocket is looking as cool as ever! Deep sand here and there, but the going was pretty easy. Of course, we won’t talk about the temperatures beyond saying that I was chilly in a 20 degree bag……oh, and water and gatorade froze overnight….. Eeeek! Spring is supposed to be here soon, that’s what I’ve heard!
