Having fun with edits

Richard Charpentier Notes from Rich, Photography, Photoshop 1 Comment

Playing around with new editing techniques can be a lot of fun. Have you ever just toyed with images for no reason at all?  Well, I played around with something I learned yesterday, and the above image is one result from the latest experiment.

I’ve always been curious about the miniaturization effect I’ve seen all over the web lately.  How do they do that? Well, one way is to use a Tilt Shift Lens.  I don’t have one of those, but if anyone wants to donate one I won’t turn it away……  😉

Another approach is to use Photoshop and create the effect.  “Down and Dirty Tricks for CS4” shows you how to do this quickly and easily.

Okay, I probably should have picked a photo that looked like I was shooting down from above, but I didn’t do that.  Instead I thought of a favorite old photo from 2006.  This wasn’t shot with a DSLR, no RAW, nada.  This was shot with my little Digital Elph from Canon, and it was a jpg.

I like the effect, and going forward I’ll try to look for shots that would work with the effect.  You know, just for the fun of playing around!
