Planks - Vulture Mine

A favorite image from the Vulture Mine, “Planks.” Processed using Lightroom and Photomatix Pro.

For years while living full time in Prescott I taught a full day introduction to Lightroom class.  In addition to the class, I created an easy to follow video series on using Lightroom.  The idea was to get people up and running quickly with one of the best image management platforms I’ve ever used.

With the advent of our new subscription site, I’m happy to finally say that the Lightroom tutorial I developed is now available online.  Since Living In Tin was first launched I’ve been looking forward to making some of my old tutorials available there.  After all, when you’re traveling you’re most likely firing away with your camera!  And at the end of the travel day I know many readers are like me, and you have to see what you captured right away.

The series covers initial setup of Lightroom, all the way through to editing in Lightroom, and using external software (like Photoshop or Photomatix) to finalize your masterpieces.  A standard travel day for me consists of traveling, photographing, and coming home to the Airstream to go through images.  Lightroom has made the whole process at the end of the day so much easier!

The tutorials focus on Lightroom 3.  I know we’re at 5 now, but everything that was relevant to 3 still applies to 5.  That’s one thing I like so much about Lightroom.  It’s remained pretty consistent on the basics since Lightroom 2.

Since I’m doing the special Valentines subscription offer to Living In Tin (50% off), subscribers are getting a great deal.  My one day classes were $79 per student.  And with the discount for subscription at Living In Tin, a 1 year subscription is only $39.50 (we also offer 6 month and one month subscriptions).  You get the travel articles, destinations for your next RV trip, the Lightroom tutorials, and whatever we add over the course of the year.

Coming up in February?  We’ll be visiting several National Monuments, photographing the whole way, and there will most likely be more tutorials on improving your own travel photography.  So this is the time to sign up with LivinginTin.com!  The discount runs through Valentines Day, and the discount code is LUVTRAVEL.
