Waves of grain

You know you’re awake when…….

Richard Charpentier Notes from Rich, Photography 3 Comments

Last night I popped by the Yavapai Photo Club’s monthly meeting. It was a lot of fun, but I was feeling a little run down. How run down?

For some reason I thought that everything in my setup at the shop was setup sRGB. This morning I woke up and said to myself, “Hey, you have everything, camera, software, etc, as Adobe RGB.” Whoops, I knew I was a little tired at the start of the presentation. 🙂  I used to use sRGB and changed everything last year.

So, there’s my correction from last night.  I am using Adobe RGB on my camera, Lightroom, and Photoshop.  Wow, it pays to be awake.

Last night, we had fun talking about color matching between your printer and monitor, and then we talked a while about Lightroom 2.  I know, why not Lightroom 3?  Cause it’s not officially out yet, although I have been toying with the Beta.  My thinking?  Let’s tackle what folks have (2), and down the road we can talk about Lightroom 3.

As usual, I went right up against the clock.  We covered a lot, and I always want more time to show folks “one more thing.”  There’s always one more thing.  For anyone who uses Photoshop, Lightroom, and other cool imaging programs, you know there’s always one more thing…….  🙂

  1. My whole world consists of “one more thing…”, whether it’s me to an end user, an end user to me, a client, my boss, or anything else for that matter.

Sounds like you had a good time though…no matter how many “one more things” there are…

  2. The hardest part must be narrowing down years of experience and experimentation, and wrapping all that info into a one-hour presentation. Impossible! A workshop or two might go a long way in putting some of that information into some practical and real-world perspective. I can speak from firsthand experience – it’s one thing for someone to tell you – and quite another to actually be shown. It makes all the difference.

  3. I belong to the Yavapai Digital Foto (yes it is spelled like that) Club. Rich did a very nice demo of Lightroom for the group. I have been using Lightroom for a while and like it. I really dislike Adobe Bridge that comes with Photoshop. I learned about a some LR functions that I don’t use from Rich’s presentation.
