Horses and riders crossing a dam in Colorado

Yesterday after we finished up the day’s work on the latest RV Park website we decided to take a quick trip.  Whenever I travel with the Airstream I always find myself looking at maps of other camping sites in the area.  And yesterday I happened upon Mancos State Park, and wanted to take a look at it.  Less than 30 minutes from where we’re currently parked, it looked pretty interesting plus it’s on a small pond (aka lake).

The ride out to the park was pretty quick.  The GPS told me 26 minutes, and it was right.  The last few miles of the ride were on rough washboard road, and it made me wonder whether or not I’d like to take the Airstream up the road.  I just don’t like everything falling out of the cabinets.

Arriving at the park I knew whether or not I’d like to take the Airstream up there.  A big yes!  Beautiful water, mountain views, elevation for cooler temperatures, and there were 2 bars of LTE on my phone.  Let’s face it, these days I do make camping decisions based on whether or not I can work from where I am.  Still gotta pay the bills, and that means I need Internet.  🙂

A tour through the campground found several sites that would happily fit the Airstream.  Nice and shaded spots, a short walk to the “lake”, and many photo opportunities for sure!

While we’ve got plans for later in the week (rolling out once more), I’m now wondering about staying in Colorado for a few more days just to have a few nights at this park.  Nothing really holding me back.  With wireless and the cell phones I can talk to my clients from anywhere.  So, you never know, Colorado for a few more days might just be what we do!

By the way, the first image here?  Yeah, a whole group of folks on horseback from a nearby Dude Ranch!  How awesome was that???
