My final word on the 08 Worldwide Photo Walk

Richard Charpentier Notes from Rich 6 Comments

I’ll tell you, the photo walk was a lot of fun.  And you’ve heard about it over and over again here.  Sorry about that gang.  This will be the last post here regarding the photo walk.  Other walks might come up, but this one is totally wrapped up.

This morning I made my decision on the local walk’s winner.  It wasn’t easy at all.  There were too many great photos.

Is there such a thing?  When you’re trying to pick a winner out of many great shots, yes there is!

So, what did I select?

Chad Banning’s, “Saturday Morning.”  The first time I saw Chad’s photo I had a feeling it would be in my top 10.  Just such a simple shot, but there is so much to it.

Many people told me about the older gentleman who walked across the Yavapai Courthouse square with a briefcase and walking cane.  Sadira mentioned seeing him coming across the square and wondering what his story was.  Clearly, Chad saw him too and took the time to set up this great shot!

This is one of those, “Wish I had taken that,” moments.

I hope you all take the time to check out Chad’s photo stream at Flickr (you can click the photo), and take another look at all the shots from the Photo Walk.  There were so many amazing shots!

So, there it is.  I’ll tell you, I don’t want to pick a “Best” photo in the near future again!  It was so hard!  Especially with all the great photos to choose from.  I don’t envy photo contest judges at all!  🙂

  1. I can’t believe you have no comments yet. That picture made me cry. I have an interview tomorrow for an ombudsman position so that picture was perfect. Old people are great. Even cranky ones.

  2. Wonderful selection. As I gaze upon it, these thoughts arise…

Perseverance furthers (from I Ching)… Confidence… Rock of Gibraltar… Proud achiever… Stoic optimism.

    It gives me strength.

    Thank you!

  3. Glad everyone liked this one. Chad had some amazing shots. Many of the group members had amazing shots. It was so hard to pick just one. If I could I would have submitted about 15 photos from many folks. Great group, great photos, and fun! I’m looking forward to doing it again soon, but someone else can do the planning. I want to take some pictures!!! 🙂

  4. This is the first I saw this post. I am very honored by the responses and have been flattered by Rich’s selection and kind words throughout the process.

    Until next time…

    Chad
