The Tsunami Aqua Party – Shooting with the 5D Mark II at high ISO

For those dying to see early images from the Tsunami on the Square event this weekend, you’re in luck. I broke out of my “that’s too late” shell and headed out to tonight’s Aqua Party over at the Taj Mahal Restaurant (I hope I spelled that right).  You’re going to gasp now…..I didn’t get home until almost 10:00 p.m.

I know, shocking.

So, I’m really tired and I just offloaded a few images of one of tomorrow’s acts.  A local belly dancing group, and they were great.

For the photo junkies out there, here’s what I was using.  The 5D Mark II, my 24-70 f/2.8 L series lens (I really love this lens), and I was cranking up the ISO big time.  No strobes, no rabbits and magician hats, just the camera and available light.  I’m pretty happy with the results.  And I have not run through the shots with Lightroom 3’s new noise reduction, but you can bet I’ll be adding these images as examples for this weekend’s Lightroom Class at the Art Store.  This should be fun.

Okay, enough talk from me.  Here are a few images for your enjoyment.  No edits but one image.  Just added a vignette and you’ll know it when you see it.

Now, off to sleep for me!
