6 Years of Airstream Blogging

Richard Charpentier Notes from Rich Leave a Comment

It struck me this morning that The Airstream Chronicles is now over 6 years old.  And if you count the original site “Gadget’s Airstream Chronicles,” we’re talking 8 years of an Airstream Blog.  Whew, that’s a long time.

Of course, as regular readers know, this site isn’t just about the Airstream every day for 6 years.  It’s followed through life events while living in the Airstream.  Honestly, there’s only so much you can write about just full time RV living, and only so many features you can do on how to drain your black water tank.  This blog has covered what’s been behind being a Full Time Airstreamer.  Building a business in Prescott, having that business fail, getting up and dusting off and finding the right niche.  As the title has always said, “A blog about photos, tech tips, Life 2.0, and more…..all from an Airstream.”  Through it all, the Airstream has always been the hub of what’s happening.

Arizona Sky

Oh that Arizona Sky!

In the last year alone the Airstream has been through the following states as we worked with clients across the US:  CA, AZ, NM, CO, TX, OK, KS, MO, KY, IL, WV, MD, PA, NJ, NY, MA, VA, GA, AL, TN, AR and then back through a few again.  In total over 8,000 miles this year traveling in between client sites, camping, working, visiting, and Airstreaming!

Looking through the categories that I’ve written on since this blog started, I realized that a lot of topics have been covered.  Recently the National Monuments of the Southwest (for our book project), social media, crowdfunding, and more learning experiences.  There are also tons of categories on photography, HDR, Photoshop, Canon Cameras, gear reviews, Arizona…..and so much more.  And don’t forget all of those podcasts years ago, and the photography tutorials as well!  They’re all still up here, so keep in mind you can go back through the archives yourself!  The little archive drop down in on the right side tool bar and is labeled “Archives.”  If you’d like you can even go back to the beginning, August of 2008 when Gadget’s Airstream Chronicles went away and this site took its place.  That month covered Scott Kelby’s Photo Walk, clogged Airstream drains, copyright issues, what happened to the old site, and more.  Just looking back through myself I’m feeling all nostalgic.  I really like the post on Celebrating, as it was a very hopeful month getting ready to start a new business in town!

The future for the Airstream Chronicles

I think the future for this site looks pretty good.  I don’t see myself living anywhere else for the near future.  Being mobile actually helps when it comes to working with our clients.  Would I like to see a larger Airstream in the future?  Mmmmm….maybe?  Would I like to see more travel?  Sure.  But bills have to be paid, so clients are still taking some attention away from the site.  That’s okay, I don’t know a single blogger out there who doesn’t have to earn a living.

It’s pretty clear with 8 years of Full Time RV blogging that this site will be sticking around.  And don’t forget that the whole new project, Living In Tin, is also going on.  Very exciting stuff over there as well.

For those who have followed along since the beginning, thanks!  And for new readers, glad you stopped in.

With today’s post wrapped up at 6:40 a.m., I’m off to work on several clients’ sites today.  Going to be a busy one!
