A Storm Is Coming

No, not some type of metaphor for anything….. A real storm is on its way. We’ve been hearing about it for days. Apparently CA & AZ are going to get some weather.

The summer of 2009 did not bring us our “standard” monsoon season.  Watson Lake is way down, Willow Lake too.  But now over the course of the next week it sounds like we’ll be getting some major rain / snow.  Maybe we’ll refill the lakes here?  Maybe it will help with the drought.  However, if we’re getting tons of rain too quickly I don’t know that the land will be able to absorb all the rain fast enough.

So, flooding?  Maybe.  Snowed in?  Who knows.  We’ll just have to wait and see.  Oh, and I’ll try to get some interesting photos if I can.  I’d love to get some snow covered shots of the Granite Dells this year…….

Check back in this week to make sure I don’t float away, get buried by snow, etc.  🙂

  1. It is almost noon in San Diego and the wind gusts are steadily increasing in intensity and frequency. We have a mother hummingbird nesting in our Bay bush next to the south side wall of the house. Hopefully our hedges will be a sufficient windbreak to protect the her and the nest.

The forecast is for 3″, which rarely happens. I hope that there will not be a repeat of the flash flood of 2004, which flooded the Palm Canyon campground and washed away palms in Anza Borrego Desert State Park.
