Take only pictures, leave only footprints

How about a quick hike?

Richard Charpentier Notes from Rich 2 Comments

Remember when the blog was full of hikes and climbs?  Yeah?  Me too!

That will be returning soon.  See, the hikes I take contribute to the photos that wind up on the blog and in the gallery.  So, hiking is part of the new job.

Great justification for hiking, eh?

The next Anza Borrego trip….. yup, part of work too.  And yes, there will be another February / March Anza Borrego trip for sure!  Maybe even a Tucson trip soon……

Yesterday Sadira and I headed out to Granite Basin for a short hike.  We haven’t taken real hikes in a while, and with 2 days off in a row we thought it would be a good idea to get out.  Our hunch was right, it was a good day.  Also we found out that we need to get hiking again.  Good grief, a few months of no hiking really makes a person mushy!

I also wanted to get out and try my new waterproof Lowe Pro pack.  Sadira gave it to me for my 29th birthday the other week.  A waterproof camera area, a water bladder (I’ve been waiting for a camera bag that has one), and a small storage area for day hiking.  Just a great pack!

Thanks Sadira!

Oh, and she sent along a photo from yesterday for the blog.  Thanks again.

Our hike was pleasant, but we both felt out of shape.  Well, I felt really out of shape.  Fortunately it won’t take long to get back to 100%.  I’m just going to start walking in the Dells again with a full pack.

So, keep watching.  New hikes, new photos, and maybe a few new locations will pop up here in the next few weeks!

  1. You’re welcome! And happy 29th. Again. I guess that makes me 30…thank goodness, here I was thinking I was running out of time to do some things when really…there’s all the time in the world 😉

And Excuse me…but, I would like to go on the record as saying that I DID NOT feel out of shape (cause’ then all the time in the gym would be for naught…) it was only AFTER I sat down when we got home that I felt tired. And Jello legs. And like I needed a massage. And a nap. And some more time out on the trail 🙂

  2. Good to hear that you are successfully taking off physically, spiritually, and aesthetically in your craft. Is that handsome beard an inspiration from John Muir?
