Monochromatic

Since landing here I’ve seen very little of Mr. Sun.  Gray seems to be the standard sky.  Of course it’s no shock to me.  After living in New Hampshire for 13 years I always said that from October to April you just don’t see much sun.  That leaves me to wonder……..

Maybe folks who are way into black & white images live in places where it’s often gray outside.  Could be something to it.  Of course you can still relay the general feel and include some color as well.  Just tone the color back a bit or do an antiqued effect in Lightroom or Photoshop.  That can relay the heavy feel as well.  Well, at least that’s what I did with today’s image.

Personally I like bright blue skies with a mix of clouds.  Colorful landscapes are what I do.  But as I find myself in a new place it’s hit me….I need to relay this place in a new way.  Winter is here, and the reality of winter is sometimes a little monochromatic.  So, we’ll play with it.

I will say this.  It’s nice to be shooting again.  Sure, I was shooting commercial work and portraits recently.  But I’d stopped shooting for myself.  It was all about the biz, and not about the fact that I like slinging a camera.  So a positive benefit of relocating and changing gears?  Yeah, I’m thinking more and more frames will start to be captured again.
