The rough day

Richard Charpentier Notes from Rich Leave a Comment

Yesterday I was supposed to be working on a few items as I prepare to pull the Airstream south.  For the morning I went off to do some laundry, and then I’d get to the busy work.  But instead all I accomplished was getting some laundry done.  Right afterward I had a pretty severe allergic reaction.  Not my standard tough it out at the Airstream reaction.  This one was a whopper.

As I mentioned the other day, I’m an uncle again.  And from 12:30 pm to 9:15 pm I was in the same hospital my sister gave birth in.  But I wasn’t visiting, I went as a patient.

The severe reactions are pretty few and far between these days.  With most everything all settled after being sick from 05-10′ I’ve felt pretty good.  But I know there are a few food items (honey, milk, eggs) that really nail me.  Something got me yesterday, but I don’t even know how.  A handful of pretzels and peanuts in the morning, that was it.  But something lit me up bad enough to take a ride in an ambulance.

As you can tell, I’m okay so no worries.  There were a few hours when I just wasn’t sure what was happening.  I haven’t reacted like this in quite a while.  To say that a person gets used to what an allergic reaction feels like sounds a little crazy.  But when I’ve accidentally gotten something in my food that didn’t belong there it’s a pretty normal pattern.  Yesterday’s reaction wasn’t normal at all, which is why I opted for an ER visit……

Best part of this?  Remember the other day when I wrote about the fact that one of my policies was cancelled thanks to the new healthcare system?  Yeah, I’m a little concerned about that (it’s the policy that covers hospitalization), and about a bill for 8 hours in an ER.  Oh well, I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.

As with any day after a severe reaction I’ll be lying low today.  I always feel like I’ve run a marathon or something when it happens.  And this morning I feel totally exhausted.  Better, but exhausted.
