Airstream Door Handle Nightmare

Things break

Last night at 1:30 a.m. I woke up to find Jodi messing with the door handle for the Airstream’s main door.  We’re not talking cabinets or bathroom.  We’re talking the door to get in and out of the Airstream.

The handle had come off.

We’re parked in Gila Bend, and we’re hooked up to the park’s power here.  But last night the power went out, and my computer battery backup started beeping because power was off.  That’s what woke Jodi.

Well, suffice it to say, we weren’t thinking well at 1:30 a.m.  We opened the emergency exit (aka back window) and Jodi went out through it.  Glad to say, opening the door from the outside still works.  Sad to say the interior handle is detached.

Door Handle Nightmare

So to all of my brilliant RV’ing friends out there.  What the heck do I do???

We’re heading up to Prescott today.  I think the door will stay closed, and I’ll lock the dead bolt as well.  But being able to close the Airstream door is kind of important to me.  You know, so mountain lions don’t eat me in my sleep, and tarantulas don’t make a nest under my pillows.
