Under Construction – RV Park Website Makeover

The main work has begun.  This morning I pulled the trigger and began building the new web structure over the old site for La Mesa RV Park.  So far everything is going along well with no issues to speak of.

I’ve been working since 5:00 a.m. Mountain Time and we’re now at 9:30 a.m.  Busy morning to be sure.  But the overall structure of the site is now in place, and the really hard part is about to begin.  Filling pages with relevant content for customers.  Fortunately the original site had a lot of information, and we’ll be stripping some of that content out of the old and into the new.

What the former site lacked was style and readability.  Additionally, it was unreadable on my IPhone.  Here, I’ll show you a screen capture:

As you can see, not the friendliest looking thing to come up on your IPhone while you’re trying to find an RV park.  You can zoom in and out to get the buttons, but not super convenient.  The new version on the IPhone (and Androids and other mobile devices) looks like the screen capture below:

Pretty straightforward.  Tap to call, get that reservation going.  Of course, the rest of the content is very readable on a mobile device as well.

If you’d like to see the progress I have left the old site up temporarily as well.  To see the old site vs the new site on your computer just follow each link below:

I’d love to hear some feedback from readers.  And those of you have have mobile devices, check each link out on those as well.  Oh, and the feedback doesn’t need to be, “The pages aren’t full of content yet.”  I know that, and it’s what I’m working on right this very moment, so no wise apples out there!  🙂

  1. WOW! The old web site was over load for my brain! Way too many thing to read on the first page! New web site is easy & simple to navigate, understand & read. Job well done Rich!

  2. Site is looking great. My 2 cents:

    – would like to see an image in the header on the subpages
    – I’d call customers “guests” rather than “clients”
    – it would be great if the About page included a tidbit about the park hosts
    – Although I love the scenic shots, I think the “La Mesa meets your travel needs” box would benefit from a photo with an RV in it
    – Social media links aren’t active
    – Passport America info might work better in a call-out box
    – I’d combine the “Amenities” info and the “About” page (it would be easy for someone to click on just the “Amenities” rather than realizing they’re separate pages) – Heads up, the font changes on the Amenities page
    – The contact page doesn’t seem like the best spot for the map – would also like to also see the GPS coordinates to make it easy to put it into my device

    Hope this helps 🙂

Thanks Jade! And thanks Corey! You’ve got some good ones there and I’m addressing several of them right now.

The social media links aren’t up yet. The park owner is hesitating about using the social media, so I have to work on them a bit more… 😛

And more shots will be coming from the park. Many of the images currently are place holders. I’m holding my breath for a day with a few clouds as it is extremely difficult to photograph around here with the blank slate hyper blue sky. I know, we all love blue skies….but…..

    Thanks again!
